Twenty-four new ministers and deputy ministers have been sworn in by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
President Akufo-Addo encouraged the newly appointed ministers to assist him in carrying out his mandate to guarantee that all people have access to chances for progress and prosperity at a short ceremony held at the Jubilee House.
In order to fulfill his pledges to the Ghanaian people, he asked the recently appointed officials to work hard for him.
Upon administering the oaths of office, secrecy, and allegiance, President Akufo-Addo conveyed his confidence that the appointees will make noteworthy contributions in the remaining seven months of his presidency.
He emphasized the need of timely submission of their asset declarations and upholding integrity in the performance of their public duties, and he reminded them of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) pledge to serve Ghanaians in an honest and competent manner.
On Friday, May 17, 2024, the ministers’ nominations were approved by Parliament.
A minute of silence was observed at the start of the event in honor of Kwasi Atta, a motorist who unfortunately died in a recent accident near Bunso Junction.
Minister of State for the Ministry of Finance Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare; Minister of Tourism, Art, and Culture Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer; Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources Lydia Seyram Alhassan; and Minister of Local Government, Rural Development, and Decentralization Martin Kwaku Adjei-Mensah Korsah are among the recently sworn-in Ministers.
Additional Ministers include Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, Minister of Health; Darkoa Newman, Minister of Gender, Children, and Social Protection; and Fatimatu Abubakar, Minister of Information. Ophelia Mensah Hayford is the Minister for Environmental, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Additionally, Daniel Machator and Nii Kwartei Titus Glover were sworn in as Regional Ministers for Oti and Greater Accra, respectively.
The sworn in Deputy Ministers were: Adelaide Ntim, Deputy Minister for Health; Charles Acheampong, Deputy Minister for Communications and Digitization; Sylvester Tetteh, Deputy Minister for Information; and Dr. Benjamin Sekyere Yeboah, Deputy Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection. Additional members of the delegation include John Kobina Abbam Aboah Sanie, Deputy Minister for Energy; Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Deputy Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Decentralization; and Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Deputy Minister for Health.
The others are Professor Kingsley Nyarko, Deputy Minister for Education; Dr. Festus Awuah Kwofie, Deputy Minister for Employment, Labor Relations, and Pensions; Collins Adomako Mensah, Deputy Minister for Energy; and Dr. Prince Hamidu Armah, Deputy Minister for Works and Housing. Deputy Ministers for Lands and Natural Resources Akwasi Konadu, Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Musah Abdul Aziz Ayaba, and Finance’s Dr. Alexander Ampaabeng are also included.
