President Mahama and wife travel to Zambia for a state visit

President John Dramani Mahama has touched down in Lusaka, Zambia, for a three-day official visit following an invitation from President Hakainde Hichilema, highlighting an important move in enhancing ties between the two nations.

Upon arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, President Hichilema warmly welcomed the President and First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama.

The reception was also attended by Ghana’s High Commissioner to Zambia, Madam Elizabeth Nyantakyi.

President Mahama is expected to conduct bilateral talks with his Zambian counterpart during the visit, aiming to strengthen diplomatic relations, increase trade and investment prospects, and improve collaboration within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

In conjunction with the programme, President Mahama will place a wreath at Embassy Park to honor Zambia’s deceased heroes.

He is anticipated to speak at the Zambian National Assembly, where he will present Ghana’s vision for a more united, collaborative, and thriving African continent.

The President will also interact with members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka and co-lead a Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue.

The forum will examine ways to enhance economic collaborations, focusing specifically on Ghana’s expanding digital economy and fintech offerings.

The state visit emphasizes President Mahama’s wider dedication to enhancing African unity via expanded trade, better connectivity, and the encouragement of free movement for people and goods throughout the continent.
