President Mahama appoints Mohammed Abdul-Salam as Acting Director General of NLA

The National Lottery Authority’s (NLA) new Acting Director-General is Mohammed Abdul-Salam.

His role is to direct the authority’s operations, and his appointment will take effect on January 15, 2025.

“His Excellency John Dramanl Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana has in accordance with Article IPS (1) of the Constitution and section 45(1) of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 7) appointed you as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Lottery Authority pending receipt of the Constitutionally required advice of the Board of the Authority, in consultation with the Public Services Commission”, the Office of the President announced in a letter.

Prior to this appointment, the appointee was the Northern Region’s Regional Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Sammy Awuku announced his resignation from the position on January 13. Sammy Awuku gave his election as the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North as justification for his decision in a letter to President John Dramani Mahama.

Awuku has been with the NLA since August 2021, and his resignation signifies the end of his tenure there.
