The purpose of President John Dramani Mahama’s official visit to Sierra Leone is to advance important areas of cooperation, like as trade, economic development, and regional cooperation, and to fortify bilateral connections.
When the Ghanaian president arrived, his counterpart from Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, greeted him.
In a Facebook post on March 18, 2025, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, President Dramani Mahama’s Special Aide, announced the visit. The two leaders will talk about issues that both parties have in common, such as social infrastructure, economic alliances, and regional collaboration, she said.
Mutual assistance in times of crisis and joint development initiatives are hallmarks of Ghana and Sierra Leone’s long-standing friendship.
President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone further cemented the close ties between the two countries in January 2025 by attending President Mahama’s inauguration in Accra.
This partnership will be strengthened by President Mahama’s visit, which will promote stability in the region and economic prosperity.
Cooperation between the two nations is essential to promoting peace and development throughout West Africa as they are important members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
