I have just concluded a long and cordial telephone conversation with my brother and colleague, Professor Ransford Gyampo.
Professor Gyampo acknowledged that he regrets his commentary against my person which was distasteful and defamatory especially considering our longstanding collegial relationship. I, in turn, admitted that I went so hard with my comments about his person in response to his position on my commentary, we have sincerely apologized to each other.
We have mutually agreed to put this episode behind us and to move forward with renewed respect for each other. As public intellectuals, we remain committed to engaging in serious national discourse without allowing disagreements to degenerate into personal animosity.
I therefore respectfully urge our families, friends, and supporters to respect this mutual understanding and to continue to support us in our professional contributions to national development.
Thank you.
