In the ambulance procurement trial, businessman Richard Jakpa, the third accused, has stated that Attorney-General Godfred Dame utilized materials he had asked for from him in order to support his case.
However, Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, the Director of Public Prosecutions, refuted this assertion.
During the Thursday, June 20, proceedings, Mr. Jakpa stated that the prosecution’s strategy against him was shaped in large part by the legal documents he gave to the AG.
Jakpa clarified that the documents comprised a portion of the correspondence and information that he and the Attorney-General had exchanged.
Because it seemed that the evidence was mostly drawn from his input, Jakpa indicated that the AG’s reliance on those documents raised questions about the impartiality of the prosecution’s case.
In addition, Mr. Jakpa restated his earlier assertions that the AG’s WhatsApp chats that were used as evidence had been altered.
He insisted that the information had been changed to falsely portray his communications, which he believed could damage the prosecution’s case.
On Thursday, the court allowed into evidence two responses from the AG and 68 WhatsApp conversations that were purportedly sent by Jakpa.
At the time of his conversation with Jakpa, the Attorney-General had already finished his case, according to Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
She argued that the Attorney General could establish his case without the accused’s participation. She pointed out that the Attorney General had already filed the documents that Jakpa had claimed to obtain in July 2022 as of February 14th, 2022.
