The former Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways Hon, Isaac Adjei Mensah has challenged the government to prove its claim of constructing ten thousand kilometers of roads in the upcoming budget statement.

Speaking to Ghanatodayonline.com parliamentary correspondent Nana Kwaku Boffah the former Deputy Minister asked the Roads and Highways Minister Hon, Kwasi Amoako Atta to prove his claim before parliament through validation.

“Contractors have abandoned most roads under construction due the lack of funds and these roads have since deteriorated, the government is not being truthful to Ghanaians, where are the ten thousand kilometers of roads, the President cannot point out a single road he started afresh and completed within his seven-year period in office except the Kyebi town roads which were already existing they just did asphalt overlay” he said.

“The NPP misconstrue road maintenance as road construction which is not, only 78,432 kilometers of road has been validated according to their own records so where from the additional ten thousand kilometers” he quizzed.

The former Deputy Minister accused the NPP government for abandoning roads started under former president Mahama’s regime to deteriorate.

“I’m expecting the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta to show us the condition of our roads and its level of completion backed by evidence and validation “.
