Pru East: Methodist JHS wins NCCE Independence Day Quiz Competition

As part of this year’s Independence Day festivities, the Pru East municipality’s National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) held a quiz on Ghana’s constitution.

This nationwide initiative seeks to instill civic qualities in all of the nation’s elementary school pupils.

The Constitution allows civic education as a means of raising individuals’ awareness of democratic government principles, fostering patriotism, and increasing their involvement in the political process.

Accordingly, in order to make the Independence Day celebrations more interesting and memorable, the directorate administered a quiz to basic school pupils across the country.

In addition to being entertaining, the exam is part of the Commission’s attempts to assist students comprehend the 1992 Constitution.

The competition was held under the 2025 working theme: “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility.”

The main objective is to use quizzes as a way to promote learning of the Constitution’s contents in an entertaining manner among basic school students.

Specifically, the goals include organizing quizzes on the 1992 4th Republican Constitution to commemorate Independence Day, encouraging the use of NCCE’s Ghana Constitution Game Board and encouraging students to join Civic Education Clubs in their schools.

In line with this vision, the Pru East municipal directorate of NCCE held its program at the SDA church premises on March 5, 2025, with four selected basic schools in the district: Methodist JHS, R/C JHS, Girls Model JHS, and D/A JHS, all in Yeji.

Three competitors were chosen from each participating institution, and the Constitution Game Board was utilized.

The winners were Methodist JHS, R/C JHS, D/A JHS, and Girls Model JHS.

The municipal director, Mr. Emmanuel Nimoh, underlined that the goal of the interactive approach is to instill a culture of constitutional knowledge in the young people.

He exhorted youths to always have access to the Constitution.

The Pru East education director, Mr. Sylvester Tabiasi-Naa, requested the NCCE to continue the program annually in order to make a substantial impact on Ghanaian children, while the participating schools thanked the NCCE for the event.
