Due to the inconsistent power supply in the Ashanti Region, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have scheduled an emergency meeting.
According to PURC, the meeting is a part of their efforts to make the tariff provider aware of the region’s sporadic power supply.
The gathering comes after some locals voiced concerns about what they perceived to be “Dumsor’s” return.
In an interview with Captain Koda on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, on the morning program “NYANSAPO” on Kumasi-based OTEC 102 9 FM, Dr. Eric Obutey, Director of Research and Cooperate Affairs, stated that among other things, the meeting will look for long-term solutions to give customers a reliable power supply.
“We do not understand why the problem of power cuts still exists,” he disclosed, adding, “in our previous meeting ECG, they pointed to gas shortage as the main problem, which we are told has been resolved now.”
“To help provide customers with the best service possible, this meeting will concentrate on how to resolve whatever issues are causing the power outages,” he stated.
