According to reports, more than 30 armed men broke into the Atwima-Twedie Technical Institute in the Ashanti Region’s Atwima Kwanwoma District and destroyed thousands of Ghana cedis’ worth of school property.

The suspects are said to be young people from Atwima-Agogo, a nearby community that borders the Twedie township, and they were purportedly carrying locally made guns and machetes.

In an interview with OTEC News reporters Jacob Agyenim Boateng and Kofi Dwaah Appiah, the Assembly Member for Twedie Electoral Area, Hon. Augustin Osei, disclosed that the regrettable event happened on Monday, January 1, 2024, while the students were away on vacation.

He disclosed that the suspects had taken some of the students’ personal belongings after damaging the school’s property.

He went on to say that among other items destroyed in the process were the school’s air conditioners, street lights, and sign post.

According to Hon. Augustin Osei, the incident happened after some young people from Atwima Twedie and Atwima Agogo got into a fight.

According to Hon. Augustin Osei, the suspects vandalized a number of cars, homes, and other properties in the Twedie Township.

“I learned some misunderstanding erupted between inhabitants of the two communities on Christmas Eve, their residents of Atwima Agogo came and attacked their counterparts from Atwima Twedie on New Year”

He mentioned that the two communities have been taken over by police in the area, guaranteeing peace.

But he urged the young people in both towns to exercise restraint and let the legal system do its thing.
