The suspended headmistress of West Africa Senior High School (WASS), Dr. Shine Agatha Ofori, must be immediately reinstated, according to the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT).
The Ghana Education Service (GES) decided to detain Dr. Shine Agatha Ofori over claims that she had been charging pupils for services that weren’t allowed. NAGRAT, however, thinks that this action is a reflection of broader difficulties senior high schools face nationwide.
The headmistress did not do anything improper, according to Mr. Angel Carbonu, president of NAGRAT, who made this claim during a news conference today. Instead, he asked the government to concentrate on giving schools enough financial support to raise education standards all around.
Mr. Carbonu charged that the administration was using the headmistress as a scapegoat and urged them to focus their efforts on enhancing service delivery in all of the nation’s schools.
The problem is widespread and extends beyond West Africa Senior High School. This type of unfair discrimination against headteachers is unacceptable, according to Mr. Carbonu.
In order to assess the Free SHS program and solve the schools’ precipitous decline, NAGRAT is pleading with the government to consult with stakeholders. They urged the government to act sensibly for the sake of education and swiftly reinstate Dr. Shine Agatha Ofori and any other headteachers who were in a like predicament.
