Chaina 8 is expected to report to the headmistress for GES for alternatives to dismissal.

The Chiana Senior High School (SHS) expelled girls’ case has been forwarded to the school’s Disciplinary Committee by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-involvement Addo’s prompted the GES to report the situation to the school’s Disciplinary Committee.

According to a statement released by the GES on Friday, January 13, 2023 and signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the Public Relations Unit: “The concerned students were dismissed based on a recommendation by the school’s Disciplinary Committee.

“Thus Management has referred the matter to the school’s Disciplinary Committee to explore alternative sanctions other than dismissal.”

“In the meantime, the affected students are to report to the Headmistress of the school for further directions,” the statement added.

Dr. Yaw Adutwum, the Minister of Education (MoE), gave the GES the go-ahead to consider other disciplinary measures against the eight pupils expelled from the Chiana SHS.

This came after President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo got involved in the reprimanding of the kids.

According to a statement released by the MoE’s spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng, on Friday, January 13, 2023, the Minister gave the GES the order to identify an alternative disciplinary measure to dismissal.

The pupils were told to turn over any school property they were in possession of to the school administration and leave after being captured on camera disrespecting President Akufo-Addo over the difficulties facing their school.

According to a letter written by Dr. Eric Nkansah, Director-General of the GES, the eight pupils were told to return home.

The aforementioned pupils were shown fiercely criticizing the President in a November 2022 viral video for failing to address the problems at their school and the economy as a whole.

After the video of the students, who were in their second year at the time, went viral, the GES opened an investigation into the situation.

In their viral video, the eight students insulted President Akufo-Addo and afterwards apologized to him.
