The residents of Assin North have been guaranteed by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that the area’s ongoing road work will continue beyond the upcoming by-election on June 27, 2023.

He claims that the government is building the Assin North town roads to assure the area’s development rather than to garner support in the vital by-elections.

Dr. Bawumia announced that the government would build a foot bridge to safeguard the safety of the citizens along that section of the route while speaking at the commissioning of the road from Assin Fosu to Assin Praso in the Assin North Constituency.

“As part of measures to improve safety along the Assin Praso-Assin Foso road, government will construct a modern footbridge within Assin Foso Township to improve pedestrian safety. The footbridge shall also be disability friendly.”

The Assin-Praso-Assin Foso road’s development was made possible, he said, by a grant from the Japanese people, which cost 6.58 billion Yen, or $58 million.

Vice President Bawumia said, “On behalf of the government and the people of Ghana, I extend a heartfelt gratitude to our friends from Japan for their ongoing contribution towards infrastructure development and other services in Ghana.

He encouraged the Ministry of Roads and Highways to establish the required upkeep system for this route in order to protect the investment that has been made in it.
