Sagong community set ablaze due to reoccurring fighting between Anufors and Konkombas

Sagong, a village in Chereponi in the North East Region, was completely destroyed by fire as a result of recent fighting between the Anufors and Konkombas.

The altercation is reported to have begun at 3 pm on Monday, July 25, 2022, and is thought to be the consequence of a five-year dispute over a plot of property situated between Gbalo (an Anufor tribe) and Sagong (a Konkomba community).

Sagong community people are now homeless, despite the fact that no casualties have been reported.

Just a few days prior, on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Interior Minister Ambrose Derry renewed the curfew hours for Chereponi and its surroundings in the North East Region from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

All individuals are completely prohibited from possessing or using any type of offensive weapon or ammunition within the aforementioned areas and their immediate surroundings.

Anyone detected in possession of weapons or ammunition will be detained and charged.
