Sammi Awuku declares intention to contest Akuapem North seat

In the New Patriotic Party’s(NPP) parliamentary primary in the Akuapem North constituency, Sammy Awuku, the director of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), might face no opposition.

None of the potential candidates for parliament had picked up the nomination forms to compete as of November 30 at the end of the business day.

Mensah Bonsu, the chairman of the constituency, stated that Sammy Awuku has been providing financial support to the constituency and emphasized that he is not shocked that he is not facing opposition.

On Tuesday, November 28, 2023, the NPP accepted nominations for the Akuapem North Parliamentary primary.

The party announced that it would close nominations on Thursday, November 30, 2023, in a statement that was signed by Justin Kodua Frimpong, its General Secretary.

“The Party has also approved detailed Rules and Regulations to govern the conduct of the parliamentary primary election, which will be made available to stakeholders.”

On December 2, 2024, the New Patriotic Party will hold the parliamentary primaries in the orphan constituencies.

On January 20, 2024, the party will also elect its candidates for parliament.
