The Ashanti Regional President of the Ghana School Feeding Programme Madam Gifty Asamoah has urged the Vice President and NPP Flagbearer Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to as a matter of urgency intervene in the payment of the School Feeding Caterers across the country and especially those in the Ashanti Region.

According to her, the Vice President’s failure to intervene in the payment of their funds would have adverse consequence in his quest in breaking the 8 since most of the caterers are strong activists of the New Patriotic Party.

In a statement, the members of the Ashanti Regional School Feeding programme claimed that they are not paid on time, while the Secretariat was not paying them the 1.5 pesewas per head as being agreed between the Caterers and the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection.

Part of the statement read and insisted that, “Demanding for the difference of Ghc35ps deducted by the Secretariat, while cited delay in termly payments, Under Payment, Under Payment due to Non Cooking, Non Payment, Demanding of Tax Certificate, Caterers not receiving Bank Alert, Non engagement, No response to concerns raised, Demanding 2nd Term payment by the end of next Week Friday (12th July 2024) and the 3rd Term payments before the Next Academic Year.

But Madam Gifty Asamoah appealed to the Vice President to make it a project in ensuring that their arrears for the first and second terms are paid as well as their deductions restored else most of their members may decline from the campaigning to retain the party.

They have therefore warned to declare strike from July 12th 2024 and lay down their tools if the government fails to respond to their grievances as soon as possible.
