Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged the nation’s security services to uphold their commitment to the state by acting impartially.

In addition, Mr. Mahama asked the security personnel not to favor one political party over another when pandemonium breaks out.

Security agencies, your duty is to the state and not to a political party, Mr. Mahama said in a speech to branch and constituency executives of the main opposition National Democratic Party (NDC) in the Lower West Akyem and Upper West Akyem constituencies of the Eastern Region.

“You don’t have to support only one political party when chaos erupts. You need to be neutral” Mr Mahama added.

According to former president John Mahama, the Akufo-Addo administration’s campaign against illegal mining has been politicized and selective.

On his three-day Eastern regional trip, he said this to branch and constituency executives of the Atewa West and East constituencies.

Mr. Mahama, who is running for office again, claimed to party delegates that “some of our young men were arrested and convicted for engaging in galamsey because they were not New Patriotic Party members.”
“Some of our young men are in jail”, Mahama stated.

“Their excavators were seized because they were accused of engaging in illegal mining and the excavators handed over to NPP members for work”, he added.
