As the greatest honor of his life, outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his sincere thanks to Ghanaians for giving him the chance to serve as president for the past eight years.
During his last State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025, President Akufo-Addo discussed the accomplishments of his administration and his vision for a Ghana that is independent and forward-thinking.
“It has always been my dream to help create a self-sufficient and forward-looking nation,” he emphasized the advancements accomplished during his time in office.
The president praised the Free Senior High School (SHS) program’s impact, noting that it gave more than five million kids access to education that they might not have otherwise had.
He underlined the initiative’s revolutionary potential to influence Ghana’s future.
President Akufo-Addo also highlighted advancements in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), pointing to the creation of 35 new institutions and the retooling of existing ones to give youth the necessary skills.
Looking back on the journey, he praised Ghanaians’ joint efforts to propel the nation ahead and promised to keep helping Ghana advance even after he leaves office.
