They have no interest in appeasing one political party at the expense of another, according to Dr. Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) in charge of Cooperate Services.
In an interview with Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he explicitly said that the Commission’s officials are bound by their primary duties.
He clarified that this is done to ensure that the Commission’s key values of transparency, fairness, and honesty are respected at all times.
We don’t try to make party A happy while others suffer, he said, “even though we are human and occasionally make mistakes.
Following the announcement, the Commission has come under fire from the National Democratic Congress for allegedly trying to rig the elections and deny citizenship to eligible voters.
Nonetheless, Dr. Bossman promised free and fair elections for Ghanaians in 2024, asserting that no political party could or would be able to sway the EC.
