Famous Ghanaian dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, filed a lawsuit against social commentator Abubakar Ahmed, known as Blakk Rasta, for purported defamation.
The lawsuit, submitted on January 15, 2026, stems from a video released by Blakk Rasta on December 15, 2025, named “Shatta Wale, Self-Declared King of Fraud.”
In his claim, Shatta Wale argues that the remarks presented in the video were untrue, harmful, and designed to tarnish his reputation as a public figure and successful musician.
Shatta Wale stated that Blakk Rasta’s remarks in the video depicted him as untrustworthy, ethically corrupt, and engaged in scams.
He thus contends that the claims imply he was a swindler, linked to individuals claimed to be engaged in fraud, and that he allowed criminal proceeds to flow through his bank accounts.
He asserted that the publications subjected him to public mockery, disgrace, and disdain, and generated worry among his family, supporters, business associates, and peers in the music industry.
Shatta Wale is thus requesting a ruling that the comments made in the video were slanderous, a directive for Blakk Rasta to indefinitely take down the video and associated content from all social media sites, and a court order preventing the defendant from producing additional defamatory content.
He is requesting the court to mandate a public retraction and a straightforward apology to be published on the defendant’s social media accounts and in the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times, and Graphic Showbiz newspapers.
Furthermore, the plaintiff seeks damages amounting to GH¢100 million along with costs.
