Speaker of Parliament declares 4 parliamentary seats vacant

Four parliamentary seats have been formally declared vacant by Speaker of the House of Parliament Alban Sumana Bagbin.

The ruling comes after Haruna Iddrisu, a member of parliament for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), formally petitioned the Speaker.

It follows lengthy debates and arguments on the petition submitted by former NDC Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu from both the Majority and Minority sides of the House.

Invoking Article 97 (1)(g) of the Constitution, the petition particularly targeted one MP from the NDC and three MPs from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
