A young man was lynched in Asafo, Kumasi, after it was claimed that he tried to take a bus from the nearby VIP stop.
According to reports, the dead, who was thought to be in his 30s, broke into a VIP-branded van and took off in it.
When the bus driver noticed this, he hopped on a motorcycle and gave the man a close pursuit.
The conductor raised the alert while being pursued, and some locals jumped in, according to Dadiesoaba Assembly Member Akwasi Agyeman.
“When he got to the GRA office, the hill there, he needed to climb but because the bus also moves with air and apparently there was not enough air to keep it going.
“And because he didn’t get the chance to fill it with air before moving it, he got stuck and the mate was able to catch up with him,” Mr Agyeman told Accra-based Class FM monitored by Ghanatodayonline.com.
After another futile effort to escape the scene, the suspect was eventually apprehended by the swelled crowd.
“When the friend yelled to draw the audience, he tried to get down and flee. He tried turning around, but he ran into someone’s car.
People then came and thrashed him. He was beaten by the crowd.
Police in Asokwa have placed his bones at the mortuary.
