Papa Kwesi Nduom, the founder and president of Group Nduom, has claimed that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and his associates caused the economy to collapse.
According to him, the former finance minister did not effectively oversee the country’s economy.
“I am making the point that the economy of Ghana was destroyed by the actions of a handful of people who controlled the financial and investment sectors. And the leader, the one who led this, and is still behind it, as if he is not there, is Kenneth Ofori-Atta,” he alleged.
The former minister was tasked by Papa Kwesi Nduom to “come to the public and say it wasn’t me, but it was somebody else” that ruined Ghana’s economy.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, during his weekly live Facebook contact with the public, the billionaire made the accusations.
Papa Kwesi Nduom uses his Facebook page to discuss the current state of the nation’s economy once a week. He launched a section titled “Disappointed but not Discouraged” in which he discusses important problems and provides the government with suggestions for enhancing the country’s economic trajectory.
After the Nana Addo-led government’s 2018 banking sector cleanup effort, the seasoned politician’s financial businesses suffered greatly, ultimately resulting in the demise of GN Bank, Gold Coast Securities, and some of his production companies.
Papa Kwesi Nduom stated in a recent interview that his bank was purposefully shut down because he is not a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
