John Mahama, the former president, has reiterated his dedication to addressing the obstacles confronting the Free Senior High School (SHS) program.
As part of his Upper East Region campaign tour for the 2024 election, Mr. Mahama emphasized that he will not repeal the policy during a rally in Binduri. Rather, he promised to strengthen its execution in order to raise the caliber and standards of education.
“If anybody tells you JM is coming to scrap free SHS, that person is a big liar. JM is coming to improve the implementation of the Free SHS, the free SHS has come to stay but we are coming to make it a quality free SHS,” he stated.
In order to provide the infrastructure required for the policy’s success, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for 2024 pledged to invest in finishing up unfinished school projects and expanding current ones.
He thinks that by using this method, the double-track system will be eliminated and school contact hours would rise.
“I want to reassure you that we will invest in and complete all of the unfinished E-Blocks when we arrive. In order to provide Ghanaian pupils access, we will also enlarge the amenities in the current schools.
