Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Constituency and the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, made a strong speech on his birthday emphasizing the value of maintaining unity within the party.
He declared that there are no “Ken Agyapong supporters” or “Bawumia supporters,” but rather, there are only “NPP supporters.”
Kennedy Agyapong, who is well-known for speaking his mind, gave this speech in his Accra campaign headquarters on the occasion of his 64th birthday celebration.
He started by expressing regret to his core followers for not having told them clearly enough about his choice to join Dr. Bawumia’s campaign in Kumasi and urging them to understand that party unity is what will determine whether they win.
Nonetheless, he made a plea to Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team and followers to accept his offer of peace and to stop harassing him and those who support him.
In front of NPP chairman Mr. Stephen Ayensu Ntim, Ken underlined the value of putting party unity ahead of individual allegiance, pleading for all party members to put aside their disagreements and strive toward the group’s common objective of “Breaking the 8.”
Honorable Agyapong emphasized that NPP supporters should put aside any disagreements that may have arisen during the presidential primaries and instead unite and consolidate their efforts.
The NPP’s appeal for unity comes at a crucial moment when political parties all over the world are struggling with internal strife.
Acknowledging this, Agyapong emphasized that keeping the party strong and ensuring ongoing electoral success depend on putting up a united front.
Many party members, who understand how important it is for the NPP to have harmony and unity, found great resonance in Ken’s statement.
Agyapong’s message serves as a rallying call for the party as it prepares for the 2024 elections, emphasizing the necessity of a united front to ensure success.
His call for unity highlights the fact that NPP members should always put the success of the party as a whole above all else, regardless of their own connections or conflicting goals.
It is now the responsibility of party members to answer this call to action by embracing constructive criticism and cooperating in order to win elections in 2024.
