The incident happened when a TD Van, with registration number AS-9480-10, carrying final-year nursing students from Sofoline to Tech, collided with a school bus on its way to pick up pupils.

According to eyewitness accounts, the trotro was carrying about 15 nurses who were on their way to write an examination. Three of the nurses were seated in the front of the vehicle at the time of the collision.

The eyewitnesses says, the crash was caused by overspeeding on the part of the TD Van driver. They reported that the van, which was heading towards Airport Roundabout, could not control its speed when the school bus attempted to cross the road, resulting in the collision.

Emergency responders and bystanders rushed to assist the victims, transporting them to the Manhyia Government Hospital. Reports indicate that four of the nursing students are in a very critical condition with little chance of survival, while 11 others sustained minor injuries and also receiving treatment at the same hospital.
