Results from testing on about four residents of the Kadjebi District in the Oti Region have verified two cases of dengue fever.

According to a circular issued by Dr. David Sarpong Opong, the acting regional director of the Ghana Health Service, the confirmed cases at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research include a young man, 21, and a female, 24 years old. Both are responding to medical care.

Some farmers in the Eastern Region’s Birim Central, Birim North, Akyemansa, Birim South, and Achiase districts were impacted by the 36 dengue cases that GHS had previously recorded on July 17 in the Eastern and Central regions.

The GHS claims that the samples were collected after an increased level of surveillance.

Nonetheless, since the discovery of the two cases, medical professionals in the Oti Region have been working together to limit the dengue fever spread.
