MTN is still collaborating with the industry’s key players to maintain a reliable and authentic SIM registration database.
MTN Ghana is asking customers to authenticate and validate the SIM numbers connected to their Ghana cards as part of the procedure.
Customers are cordially requested to report any illegitimate numbers associated to their Ghana card for delinking and deactivation after verifying the numbers.
To check the SIM numbers linked to their Ghana card, customers should dial:
- *402#
- Select option 1 – check SIMs
- Enter Ghana card personal ID number (GHA-XXXXXXXX-X)
- Enter date of birth in the format: (DDMMYYYY) e.g., 01061999
- Customer will receive this response: “Yello! Your request has been received successfully” after which the customers’ registered phone number(s) will be shared via SMS.
Customers can report to the closest MTN Retail Shop for help if they discover illegitimate numbers associated with their Ghana card. MTN will offer the assistance required to deactivate any registered number(s) that the client did not approve.
“MTN is committed to working with industry partners and the customers to ensure the compilation of a more resilient and robust customer database to help minimize fraud in the country,” stated Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN, in reaction to the exercise.
“This is a two-way affair. We need the support of our customers to enable us to conduct this exercise successfully, Ms. Wiafe stated.
