Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is scheduled to return to Ghana by the end of next week, according to President John Dramani Mahama.
After a brief illness, the vice president is currently undergoing medical attention in the United Kingdom.
President Mahama provided an update on her health on Friday, May 16, while speaking at a durbar at the Old Ghanata Astroturf in Dodowa as part of his “Thank You Tour.”
“I bring you greetings from H.E. the Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. I’m happy to state that I spoke to her on Thursday, May 15, and she will be back in the country before the end of the week.
“By God’s grace, she’s fully recovered, and she’s going to come back to her duties.”
As a precaution to guarantee a full recovery, she started a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025, and traveled overseas for additional treatment.
When the vice president returns to her duties following a time of rest and recovery, it is anticipated that government business would pick up speed again.
