Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has come under fire from former President John Dramani Mahama for allegedly breaking a pledge made to the vendors of the Kumasi Kejetia market, which was partially destroyed by fire.
During a visit to the market, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) promised to repair the damaged section; however, Mr. Mahama alleges that this commitment has not been kept.
During a 24-hour economy walk in Kumasi, Mr. Mahama spoke to party supporters and traders at the Kumasi Kejetia Market roundabout. He expressed disappointment in Dr. Bawumia, saying the Vice President is unworthy of votes for failing to fulfill his promise.
The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Mahama, promised to deal with the market issue if elected to the general elections later in December.
In addition, Mahama criticized President Akufo-Addo for remarks he had made regarding the road networks in Kwabre East and promised to address the roads in Kwabre.
He asked Ashanti voters to think twice before casting their ballots and support candidates who will improve their lives and advance development.
The former president made these remarks as part of a longer speech during the 24-hour economic walk, in which he offered his own pledges for the electorate to consider in addition to highlighting unmet expectations.
