In order to guarantee the completion of the many transformative projects being carried out in the nation’s State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) under the direction of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has urged Ghanaians to grant the NPP another term in office.
Speaking at a public forum, Mr. Boadu highlighted the important progress the NPP government has achieved in strengthening and modernizing state-owned enterprises (SOEs), which are essential to Ghana’s economic growth.
He credited the accomplishments to SIGA’s creation, which has enhanced these state agencies’ performance, accountability, and governance.
“The NPP government, through SIGA, has embarked on several landmark projects across various SOEs aimed at modernizing infrastructure, boosting productivity, and creating jobs for Ghanaians.
These initiatives demonstrate the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision and dedication to transforming SOEs into growth engines,” he said.
John Boadu mentioned initiatives such the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority’s (GPHA) growth, the Tema Oil Refinery’s (TOR) renovation, and the Ghana Airports Company Limited’s (GACL) modernization.
He also emphasized the Ghana Water Company Limited’s (GWCL) large investments to improve water supply and the Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) reforms to increase efficiency and cut losses.
“These projects are changing the narrative of our SOEs. They are now more efficient, accountable, and profitable, thanks to the reforms championed by SIGA under the NPP government. These achievements must not be taken for granted,” he stressed.
The continuity and viability of these initiatives could be threatened by a change of government, Mr. Boadu warned, adding that unfinished projects could be mishandled or abandoned.
These projects, which are essential to Ghana’s development, will be squandered in the event of a government change. That is beyond our means,” he continued.
In order to preserve these advantages and guarantee the completion of all existing projects, he urged Ghanaians to cast their votes in large numbers for the NPP in forthcoming elections.
