The running mate of National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama for 2024, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called attention to Ghana’s economy’s catastrophic condition, citing the country’s growing market expenses as a crucial sign.

In her speech, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang demanded a change of leadership from the traders, commuters, market leaders, and commercial drivers at the Mankessim market in the Mfantseman constituency.

“We all go to the market and, therefore, we know how expensive and unbearable the cost of items, including food products, have become,” she indicated.

“If you want a change for the better, then vote for the NDC to return to power to effectively manage the country to reduce the cost of living” she stated.

She emphasized the shortcomings of the present administration while on her visit to the Central Region, saying that Ghanaians “don’t need a lecture to know the extent of failure due to the mismanagement.” In the marketplaces and stores, everything is obvious.”

Referencing earlier infrastructure initiatives in Mankessim, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the NDC’s commitment to market development and chastised the present administration for neglecting them.

“Haven’t we done it before?” she said, pleading with people to help the NDC pick up where it left off and finish the abandoned projects.

“We have great plans for you traders,” she said, announcing plans for a Women’s Development Bank that would lend money to dealers.
