A middle-aged motorist was killed in the most recent instance; his body was found behind a trailer with his neck cut.
This adds to the string of enigmatic security personnel deaths, in which their bodies have been discovered with their organs including their privates removed or beheaded.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign trip, the Wa Naa implored him to utilize his authority to assist solve the problem and offer relief to the people, noting that there had been 17 deaths in the last three years with no arrests made.
Dr. Mahamud Bawumia responded by assuring the Wa people that they would benefit more from his presidency and pleading with them to support him in winning the election. He also emphasized the steps taken by the traditional authorities in cooperation with the Regional Security Council to apprehend the perpetrators.
“As Chairman of the Ghana Police Council, we implore you to use your office to enhance the capacity of the Wa and Upper West Police Command. We urgently need additional men and logistics such as patrol vehicles to effectively address the current security challenges we face.
“We believe that the north and Wa state will benefit more from eight years of Bawumia presidency than four years of the other option,” he said.
