All students whose results were withheld because of suspected mass cheating will meet with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
According to WAEC, the meeting is a part of their process for conducting an investigation to determine the students’ guilt or innocence.
On January 17, 2024, during an interview with OTEC News reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng, the Public Relations Officer for WAEC, John Carpi, stated that their officials have already been assigned to all 16 regions for the planned meeting with the students.
In order to better understand what the students wrote in their answer booklets and why some of them had the same answers as their roommates, he disclosed that WAEC officials wanted to speak with the students one-on-one.
He pointed out that the suspected candidates’ level of faith will depend on how the meeting turns out.
As a result, he has urged the parents and candidates to be patient, saying that WAEC will move quickly to complete the investigation so that the students will know their fate.
In December 2023, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) declared the results of 21,458 candidates, out of the 22,270 whose records were initially suppressed because of widespread cheating.
He permitted the applicants to verify their placement.
The results of the remaining 812 candidates, however, are still being kept a secret, and the students involved are eager to learn the results of the WAEC investigation.
