The war in Ukraine, according to Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo, has hurt African economies and raised inflation.

According to President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the war in Ukraine has an effect on the economies, living standards, and high levels of inflation throughout Africa. Ghana is eager to take part in the search for a way to put an end to the conflict. This is what Akufo-Addo stated following the Global Peace Summit, according to UN.

Although we oppose colonialism and global dominance, in this particular context, we consider Russian aggression in Ukraine. This hostility has far-reaching effects that extend beyond the battle. Africa was unintentionally hit by this violence, causing supply routes to break.

This has had a terrible impact on our economies, on living standards, on high inflation. Food prices have skyrocketed and these are some of the consequences of the invasion and so we have an interest in participating in efforts to find a solution to this conflict. A solution to the conflict must be based on a comprehensive, just, lasting peace based on the principles of international law and the UN Charter Akufo-Addo said.

He added that it is necessary to find ways to engage Russia and China in the process of ending the war.
