The Akufo-Addo administration, according to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, not only possesses the know-how to resolve the economic problem, but also has God on its side to provide direction.

“Mr Speaker, we are even more sure of an imminent break-through because we have a track record, a plan, the discipline, the dedication, the competence, as well as the compassion for our people and country,” Mr. Ofori-Atta stated in his mid-year report to parliament on Monday, July 25, 2022.

“But most of all, we have God, who gives abiding grace for this new journey”, he added.

“He guided the Akufo-Addo government to successfully exit an IMF programme in 2019. He will, again, use this government to successfully go through this programme”, Mr Ofori-Atta noted.

He added: “We will design a sustainable course that will build Ghana’s structural resilience to future external shocks, restore and improve macroeconomic stability, and enliven and grow economic activity.

“I serve a President who has proved, through his deeds, that he is deeply committed to the wellbeing of the masses of this country,” the minister stated.

“Our government is also not averse to making difficult decisions for the benefit of our nation.

He pleaded with the people of Ghana to support the president and his administration.

“We are aware of the current hardships.

But Mr. Ofori-Atta assured the legislature, “We have a strategy and the determination to implement it.

“I want this House to do exactly what it did in the earlier crisis of 2020; support us in our bid to reduce the impact of this global crisis on the nation and to tackle the vulnerabilities in our economy that make us prone to such shocks”.

“The President wants this sovereign House to be a strategic partner in government’s efforts to stabilise the economy and spur growth to create jobs”.

We have a long history of successfully resolving national problems.

We have done it before and we will do it again. With the backing of this House and the wonderful people of Ghana, we will succeed this time, and we will be stronger for it.

As we assert, the Lord’s promise in Joel 2 that he would send his people food, wine, and oil to satisfy them and remove all doubt was meant to satisfy them.

We must avoid pessimism on our trip since it saps vital vitality from our forward movement toward transformation.

To ensure our own success as a people, we must all share the same sense of patriotism. After all, a united nation will be unstoppable in its pursuit of victory.

“Mr Speaker, I am thankful for the opportunity to be here to outline our programmes. I am grateful that we continue to engage and find sustainable solutions to our challenges”.
