In an effort to improve security and lower crime, 50,000 CCTV cameras are going to be installed around Ghana’s main towns, according to plans revealed by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
While campaigning in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency in the Greater Accra Region, he made this announcement.
According to a research conducted by security organizations, 50,000 CCTV cameras are required to adequately monitor highways in regional and district capitals, according to Dr. Bawumia.
He said that although the government has started to install CCTV cameras, not all locations have been covered. By offering thorough monitoring throughout important places, this new commitment seeks to close that gap.
“We are going to provide 50,000 CCTV cameras so that the police can have visibility for every movement because we don’t have many police officers,” he explained.
Dr. Bawumia supported a “Buy Ghana First” program to increase local manufacturing and create jobs in addition to his security objectives.
He thinks that boosting local product consumption will boost company expansion and create more job possibilities for Ghanaians.
Throughout his campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia met with chiefs, pastors, and imams at the Ashongman Estate neighborhood.
Dr. Bawumia’s services to the party and his intellectual prowess were lauded by former Speaker of Parliament Mike Ocquaye, who also mentioned his crucial involvement in previous election disputes.
Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed the NPP government’s commitment to economic growth, job creation, and security, stressing the importance of these programs in realizing his vision of a safe and prosperous Ghana.
