The government is being asked for approval by the National Conference of Principal Colleges of Education-Ghana (PRINCOF) to allow all students enrolled in the different public colleges of education to begin supporting themselves as of November 7, 2022.

The Principals claim that due to a current market trend, they have been working really hard to support trainee teachers.

In a letter dated Monday, October 31, 2022, written to the Minister of Education and bearing Dr. Harriet Naki Amui’s signature as Executive Secretary PRINCOF, authorization was requested.

The letter claims that according to current market trends, the Principals of the various institutions have been working hard to support trainee teachers.

“Prices of all food items have shot up astronomically, and food suppliers have refused to supply to any college as a result of the indebtedness to these suppliers. A request tor upward adjustment review of the feeding grant paid to principals has not been approved, and it has therefore become increasingly difficult for the principals to continue provide three meals a day for the students at six cedis, fifty pesewas (C6.50).

“It is the wish of PRINCCOF to be given permission to ask students to start fending for themselves.”
