The current party chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, and the other recently elected officials have received congratulations from the previous national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.

Ofosu-Ampofo stated that while the various candidates’ campaigns for the party’s national elections may have been better in a statement released on Monday, December 19, 2022, it is now time for all party members to come together.

In order to assist the NDC win the general elections in 2024, he also promised to support the new executives.

“While I still hold the view that our various campaigns could have been more decent and issue-based, it has become even more pertinent for us to deploy all our energies to fast-track the healing and peace-building processes in order to engender the unity needed for a collective prosecution of our agenda for victory in 2024.

“I re-dedicate myself to the bigger task of working for victory in 2024 and pledge my unalloyed commitment to work even harder for the party together with the elected national officers, and the rank and file of our great party to achieve our ultimate goal of regaining power from the NPP in 2024,” parts of the statement read.

At the National Delegates Congress held last Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah triumphed in the contest for the party’s presidency.

Ofosu Ampofo earned 2892 votes, Samuel Yaw Adusei received 52 votes, and Nii Armah Ashietey received 38 votes, giving Asiedu Nketia a total of 5574 votes.
