“We need a new leader who can win the trust of the Ghanaian people. I am very confident that the people need somebody to protect the public purse” these are the words of the aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.

According to him this can be done by having a reasonable number of ministers.

“There are a lot of ministries that should be consolidated. The ministry of aquaculture should be part of agriculture. Transport, aviation, railway, ports and harbour should be transport. It makes no sense to have a ministry of parliamentary affairs. This is how to protect the people’s money,” Mr. Agyepong stated.

Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claims he can run a successful administration with fewer ministries.

He claims that the Akufo-Addo administration currently has far too many ministers, which is negatively affecting the economy.

He claims he can boost the economy and rebuild public confidence with just 54 ministers and their deputies in total.

Mr. Agyepong was speaking in an interview with GBC URA Radio in Bolgatanga monitored by Ghanatodayonline.com.

A new Ghana with a generational leader who intended to lead with compassion, boldness, competence, and results-oriented leadership was in the vision of the former press secretary of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

“We need to reduce the size of our government on our own. I think a team of 54 people—consisting of nineteen ministers, each with a deputy, and the sixteen (16) regional ministers—should be adequate for a nation of 51 million citizens. These are some of the actions I favor. We cannot spend money that we do not have, Mr. Agyepong said.

Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong is now campaigning in the Upper East Region to become the New Patriotic Party’s candidate for the 2024 general elections.
