The Minister nominee for Communications, Digitalization, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has declared that, should he be appointed, he will carry out a proper SIM re-registration exercise.
In order to prevent the lengthy lines that typified the previous exercise, he emphasized that the new procedure will be more technologically advanced and efficient.
Mr. George criticized the previous method during his vetting by the Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30, and promised to adopt a more rational and smooth procedure.
“We will do a proper SIM re-registration again, and this time, there will be no queues because common sense will prevail, and we will use technology to do it,” he assured.
Assuring safe and dependable telecommunications services, he restated that the re-registration was in the best interests of Ghanaians.
He said the exercise will be more comfortable for residents and accomplish its goals of enhancing national security and combating fraud by utilizing digital technologies.
He gave the Committee his word that, under his direction, the Ministry will give efficiency and innovation first priority in all digital projects, including SIM registration, in order to promote a more resilient and inclusive telecom industry.
