The Electoral Commission (EC) has made it clear that, contrary to what has been reported in the media, it was only establishing one new constituency.
The Electoral Commission clarified that it was just establishing the Guan constituency in the Oti Region in a press release that was issued on Tuesday night.
“The attention of the Electoral Commission has been drawn to a statement in the media to the effect that 25 New Constituencies are going to be created ahead of the 2024 General Elections.”
“The Commission wishes to state for the information of the General Public that it is only creating One Constituency, which is the Guan Constituency in the Oti Region.”
“There has been no decision made by the Commission to create constituencies other than the Guan. In a press release signed by acting head of public affairs Michael Boadu and dated October 31, 2023, the EC declared, “We urge the General Public to disregard this statement.”
