At an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held at the Alisa Hotel on Tuesday, October 1, Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa said that the commission had substantially corrected inaccuracies in the voter register.

In response to queries on the voter registration, Jean Mensa emphasized that it is not flawless and has some errors. She said that these kinds of mistakes are normal and usually result from the registration procedure.

“These errors are not unusual. All it takes are conscientious efforts to get them resolved,” she stated.

She gave political party leaders the assurance that the EC has already taken action to address the errors found since the voter register was first made public.

“You will realize that the voters register for today is different from what was provided to the parties in August,” she explained.

Jean Mensa emphasized that the majority of the disparities found thus far have been fixed. She emphasized, “The register that we have today is different from what was given to the political parties in August,” and urged all interested parties to have faith in the commission’s work.

“We have a track record of delivering free and fair elections. Our staff are well trained, and we have what it takes to produce a credible register,” Jean Mensa said.

Prior to the December elections, she urged all political parties to have faith in the commission.
