Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC), has declared that his organization will stop at nothing to reveal Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s lies about how the current economic climate came to be.

In response to Dr. Bawumia’s public lecture on Wednesday, February 7, 2023, Asiedu Nketiah declared that the NDC would not accept any attempt by the vice president to place all the blame on the president.

“This is merely a preamble; we intend to respond forcefully to his assertion and fully expose him. Because you are equally responsible for what is happening if you let lies rule the country without taking any action to stop it.

“So, for us we will keep speaking up and continue to remind him that where were you when we were fight against E-Levy, Emissions Tax, VAT on Domestic Electricity.

“Recently they forced through to approve the budget which we denounced, where were the people in the NPP now supporting Bawumia? Were they not in parliament? What did they do? He cannot come and deceive us at all,” he told Kwame Nkrumah of Okay FM.

In a lecture titled “Ghana’s Next Chapter,” Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, presented his plans for governance in advance of the 2024 presidential election.

Despite holding the position for the past seven years, the vice president declared as part of his visions that he will undo some contentious government policies.

Comparing his work to that of a trotro mate, Dr. Bawumia emphasized his limited ability to sway decisions and the importance of giving him the opportunity to establish himself in the face of the nation’s present economic difficulties.

But the vice president has come under fire for what his detractors see as an attempt to assign blame in his bid to win the presidency.
