Kennedy Agyapong, a candidate for the NPP’s flagbearer position, has received a warning from Bernard Antwi Boasiako, or Chairman Wontumi, the NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, warning that any additional threats to his life could result in legal action.
Chairman Wontumi stressed during a news conference in Kumasi that Kennedy Agyapong’s prior comments on the late Tiger Eye PI journalist, Ahmed Suale, are thought to have contributed to his tragic passing. Chairman Wontumi claims he takes the recent threats made by the flagbearer candidate seriously as a result.
Kennedy Agyapong recently held a “Showdown Walk” event in Kumasi, during which he accused Chairman Wontumi and the Vice President of subverting the NPP. This development follows those events.
Mr. Agyapong then said that he would engage in a direct conflict with the NPP’s Ashanti regional chairman.
Mr. Boasiako advised the flagbearer candidate to refrain from attacking him and instead concentrate on his campaign for the upcoming NPP primaries on November 4.
Alan Kyerematen left the party and announced his candidacy as an independent, and Chairman Wontumi justified his choice to direct the removal of his campaign materials from various party offices.
