The development of Dagbon and the larger Northern Region is a high national priority, according to President John Dramani Mahama, who has reaffirmed his administration’s strong commitment to this goal.

Speaking during a high-level delegation led by Yaa-Naa Abukari II’s courtesy tour, President Mahama congratulated the traditional ruler on his recent election victory and thanked him for his visit.

He emphasized that through well-thought-out, targeted investments, his government would collaborate closely with traditional authorities to provide real changes in the lives of regular people.

“In healthcare,” President Mahama noted, “the Northern Region is receiving renewed attention under the Savannah Health Investment Plan.”

As part of initiatives to provide access to excellent medical care, he mentioned the Yendi Municipal Hospital’s continuing rehabilitation projects and the addition of more community health professionals to underprivileged rural communities.

The President emphasized notable advancements in infrastructure under the Northern Roads Improvement Corridor.

Important improvements are being made to feeder roads that serve important farming settlements in Sang, Saboba, and Bumbuna, as well as the Tamale–Yendi–Katale section.

Under his government’s signature Big Push Initiative, he also proposed a significant boost for the Eastern Corridor Road Project, which had been postponed for a long time.

The Oti Damanko–Nkwanta, Nkwanta–Dodi Pepesu, and Nakpanduri–Kulungugu stretches will undergo crucial construction as part of the project, which aims to increase connectivity and unlock economic potential along the northern region.

Naa Bapir Zangbaling-Naa Dr. Jacob Yakubu Mahama, Paramount Chief of Zangbalinga, spoke on behalf of Yaa-Naa Abukari II, who expressed his sincere gratitude to the President for his renewed emphasis on Dagbon’s development.

To guarantee that government projects in the area are successful, he promised the traditional leadership’s complete cooperation and support.
