In a significant attempt to reduce youth unemployment and enhance public safety, the Ghana Police Service and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have teamed up to recruit 12,000 youth as Community Police Assistants.

The Interior Minister and the Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment observed the signing of the agreement at the Ministry of the Interior.

This program gives thousands of young Ghanaians looking for steady work the opportunity to do more than just earn a living; it gives them the opportunity to give back to their communities and pursue fulfilling careers in public service.

Speaking at the event, YEA representatives emphasized that the initiative is a component of a larger plan to promote national development goals and provide children with long-term employment possibilities.

“This partnership reflects our firm commitment to addressing youth unemployment in a practical and impactful way,” said a YEA spokesperson. “It also gives young people the chance to contribute actively to ensuring safer neighbourhoods.”

By bridging the gap between the police and the communities they serve, the Community Police Assistants will assist the Ghana Police Service in upholding peace and order at the local level when they are recruited.
