The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has received praise from the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for improving public opinion of the police force.
Otumfuo claims that since taking office, the IGP’s actions have greatly increased public trust in the Police compared to earlier times.
“I want to commend you for the good work you’re doing with your team since you came to the seen. Now we feel the Police in our lives, our homes and everywhere and we are grateful”.
Otumfuo spoke about the security measures in place throughout the Ashanti region during the Christmas celebrations, expressing his amazement at the sheer quantity of motorbikes patrolling the area and Kumasi in particular to keep the locals safe.
“I was here when they came to show me videos of the number of officers patrolling the city on motorbikes and it was beautiful. Because of your work, we didn’t see robberies and the number of carnage we used to see on our roads during Christmas, please continue the work because we are praying for you”.
The Asantehene also counseled the IGP against letting his personality be altered by the demands of the job.
Dr. Akuffo Dampare, who is presently on a working tour in the Ashanti region, thanked Otumfuo and gave him the assurance that the police will keep up their efforts to protect the public.
