Major companies, such as the once-round-the-clock Kumasi Brewery, have collapsed as a result of the previous economic policies of the main opposition leader, John Dramani Mahama, according to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Central Region, President Akufo-Addo warned Ghanaians not to trust Mr. Mahama’s claims, claiming that his track record shows that he is not a capable leader.

“In December 2024, John Dramani Mahama will return here to cast our vote. President Akufo-Addo said, “When he comes, ask him about the Kumasi Brewery.” He emphasized how the brewery, which had previously been a successful, round-the-clock business, closed under Mr. Mahama’s supervision.

“It produced beer, Guinness, and operated three shifts within 24 hours. It collapsed during his tenure,” the President emphasised.

In his address, President Akufo-Addo questioned the NDC flagbearer’s commitment to a “24-hour economy,” challenging whether the former president could fulfil such promises given his track record.

“You want a 24-hour economy but couldn’t oversee what was left in your care. Is it now that you are going to do something about it?” he urged voters to consider Mr. Mahama’s leadership background carefully.

President Akufo-Addo further emphasized how crucial stable and consistent leadership is to promoting sustainable development. He cautioned that it would be a “mistake” to elect Mahama again, running the risk of halting gains and economic losses.

Rather, he supported his vice-president and the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the best person to carry on the administration’s development agenda.

“Let’s not make a mistake and retrogress,” President Akufo-Addo appealed to voters.

“Let’s throw our weight behind Bawumia and move forward to take Ghana to the next step of development,” In order to build on recent successes, he also urged Ghanaians to support the continuation of his administration’s initiatives, portraying the election as a decision between advancement and reversal.
