The lawyers for troubled Assin North MP Tsatsu Tsikata failed in their request for permission to add a new basis to their review appeal.
James Gyakye Quayson is requesting a review after the Supreme Court rejected an earlier appeal that contested a High Court decision in his criminal prosecution.
The supreme court had given him until February 15, 2023, but that date had passed. Mr. Tsikata claimed that the delay was caused by information from the USA that was essential to their assessment.
The prosecution, which was headed by Director of Public Prosecutions Yvonne Atakora Oboubisa, opposed the motion.
The prior court ruling, according to a seven-member Supreme Court group led by Justice Jones Dotse, was unambiguous.
The tribunal ruled that the proposal lacked foundation and amounted to an abuse of the legal system. The proposal was turned down.
